Dear Ones,
As we begin this investigation, let us remember that if the aim of this existence is to ready the spirit for what lies beyond, the ultimate goal of human sexuality is the celestial affection that emerges when a woman and a man commit to a path of service to humanity. This path leads them to a state of transcendence known as spiritual union: "the establishment of a mutually sustaining relationship between two souls which will endure beyond life on this earth."
I grant you that this resonates with a spiritual undertone. Strip away the sacred, however, and we uncover a tumultuous mix of distorted beliefs and misguided actions that can ultimately bring society to a standstill. Any ability that strays from its rightful path can swiftly transform into a flaw.
We understand this from a psychological perspective. Without a healthy family atmosphere or respect for values, the worst failures can easily take hold of the human soul. Once parental bonds are weakened, personal identity is damaged, or the spiritual process dries up, dissolute lifestyles can appear normal, and the body can become an object of lust and worship. Consider the many stars who flaunt their physical appearance, now disclosing as well their affiliations with cults that distort, through contemporary art, the values of millions of fans, including the once-admired realm of Disney. Consider the staggering reality of pornography addiction, which accounts for 30% of online traffic. One particular site alone attracts an astonishing 3.61 billion visits each month! How true that "When the animal proclivity in man becomes predominant, he sinks even lower than the brute." A hyper-permissive culture such as ours can desensitize people to the worst cruelties and the most extreme perversions. That's how we are now discovering with horror that many notable persons were long involved in sexual abuse, pornography, pedophilia and child prostitution. Some of these predators have been compromised in order to blackmail them, while others do so by choice or out of obsession. Fortunately, the pedophile scandals surrounding P. Diddy, Jimmy Savile, Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein are resurfacing, exposing the corruption in legislatures and the complacency of the international press so that justice can be served.
The
blurring of gender identity has significantly transformed societal
views on femininity and masculinity. This has led to concerns about its
impact on children, who are increasingly exposed to sexualized content
from a young age, the whole situation WORSENING with global scale LEGISLATIONS pushing our youngest to vice instead of virtue.
If the lamp of religion dims, confusion and chaos follow and the lights of equity, justice,tranquility and peace cease to shine...
This
evidence being displayed for all to see, let us simply say that with
modern technology supporting all interests, from the highest to the most
abject, the choice is ours: to feed the angel or the demon. Additionally, diverting the sacred purpose of human sexuality toward mere pleasure and personal satisfaction has terrible consequences for new generations. These consequences include an increase in divorces, sexually transmitted diseases, drug addictions, and suicides.
Since hyper-sexualization has become a fact of civilization, how can we recover reason? The solutions are simple. Consider them for a moment:
- Idleness is the enemy of the soul.
- A fire goes out if it is not fed.
- Families united by solid values are strong bastions in storms.
- Spirituality nourishes man's higher nature, while its absence debases him to the level of the beast.
In other words, and as BAHA'U'LLAH proclaims :
Man is the supreme talisman. But, for want of proper education, he has been frustrated with that which is his own.
Will we be reborn or perish? By embracing true EDUCATION and true SPIRITUALITY, the human race can enlighten the universe. Will we answer this divine call? Take a moment to meditate on the following Baha'i quotes:
...we must continually be on our guard, whether as individuals or as an Assembly or community, lest through us these destructive, negative forces enter into our midst. In other words, we must beware lest the darkness of society become reflected in our acts and attitudes, perhaps all unconsciously.*
Watch over yourselves, for the Evil One is lying in wait, ready to entrap you. Gird yourselves against his wicked devices, and, led by the light of the name of the All-Seeing God, make your escape from the darkness that surroundeth you.

We, verily, have decreed in Our Book a goodly and bountiful reward to whosoever will turn away from wickedness and lead a chaste and godly life.
